Bio

Mary Margaret Johnson was born and raised in San Antonio, TX, and received her BA in Fine Arts at Sewanee: The University of the South in 2018. Johnson is a multidisciplinary artist and curator, and educator based in San Antonio whose practice includes photography, textiles, printmaking, performance, painting, and murals. She has exhibited her work all over Texas and Tennessee. In 2020, she started and founded her own business, Art By Moogs, which has gained national recognition and clients. Johnson also teaches her artistic practices to all ages for organizations like Texas Public Radio, Ruby City and Briscoe Western Art Museum as well as private lessons. She is a current resident and social media manager of Clamp Light Studios & Gallery. 

Mary Margaret also received a minor in community and civic engagement. So, she is very passionate about working in the community Specifically, when using art as a tool for community and civic engagement/development. She was a part of Zamni Foto from 2015-2018, a community development project in Cange, Haiti, that uses photography as the main tool for development. In 2021, she assisted in managing Lionel Sosa’s “Living In My Skin” project.
